NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police arrested a man following a shooting in the Blue Meadows Housing Development last week.  20-year-old Tyler Pratt was arrested on multiple charges, for both the original shooting incident as well as those stemming from his arrest. Pratt faces charges on assault and battery by discharge of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and carrying a loaded firearm with a defaced serial number among others. On September 24, a shooting incident occurred in the Blue Meadows Housing Development, during which two victims were struck by gunfire. During an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Pratt.  On October 1 around 4:30 p.m., police observed Pratt at the intersection of Cottage Street and Durfee.  Police said upon approaching him, Pratt reached into his waistband and fled the scene.  Officials said they observed him with a firearm in his hand as he ran towards Austin St.  Pratt allegedly tossed the firearm over a nearby fence and was taken into custody. The handgun he had allegedly discarded was found to be a Glock 30, along with a magazine and nine 45 caliber cartridges. The serial number was allegedly defaced. Pratt was also allegedly in possession of a Percocet tablet.  Pratt was allegedly on probation out of New Bedford District Court at the time of this arrest. Categories: News
