SURRY COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Getting supplies to people in need in western North Carolina has proven to be quite a challenge in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Hundreds of roads in the western part of the state remain closed due to damages caused by the storm. Pilot flying supply, rescue missions in western North Carolina ordered out under arrest threat Despite the challenging circumstances, some people are thinking outside of the box and coming up with creative solutions to lend a helping hand. FOX8's Madison Forsey speaks with a Surry County farmer who —with the help of his drone— is able to get critical supplies to places others may not be able to. This is how he's using the tools on his farm to help out.
