Mild temperatures and patchy fog have greeted us to kick off this Thursday, but sunny skies and warm highs will welcome us into the afternoon. While more clouds can be expected on Friday, highs will still cruise into the lower 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills to close out the workweek. The important thing is that we stay dry as search, rescue, and recovery efforts continue in western North Carolina; outside of a few afternoon showers in the High Country on Friday, most spots will remain dry through the weekend. Sunny skies continue into the start of next week as highs largely remain bound in the 70s and 80s. Major Hurricane Kirk and Tropical Storm Leslie continue to swirl well east of the Caribbean. Both storms should turn out to sea over the next week, staying far away from the mainland U.S. and the Carolinas. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) continues to monitor the Gulf for potential development over the next seven days, but formation chances hvae dipped to 30%. Today: AM fog. PM sunshine. High: 82°. Wind: SE 5-10. Tonight: Partly cloudy. Mild with patchy fog late. Low: 65°. Wind: Light. Friday: Fog early, then partly cloudy. Few mountain showers. High: 80°. Wind: Light. Friday Night: Clouds build. Remaining mild. Low: 65°. Wind: Light. Saturday: Sunny and warmer. High: 83°. Wind: NE 5-10.
