TOPEKA (KSNT) - Law enforcement across the Sunflower State are supporting breast cancer awareness month with their uniforms. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month; state and local law enforcement are showing their support in their uniforms. The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), Lyon County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) and Emporia Police Department (EPD) are wearing pink on their uniforms as a way to show their support for the cause. Photo courtesy: LCSO social media Old Navy prepares to open its doors in Emporia According to a social media post from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, deputies will wear pink badges to "inspire hope and resilience in the face of a disease that impacts many families worldwide". KHP posted to social media Monday, Oct. 1 troopers will wear pink KHP patches as a way of participating in Pink October. "Women play a key role within our agency. Some of these incredible women have battled cancer in the past, and some are fighting it today," KHP said in the post. "Our support extends far beyond the agency to everyone currently battling breast cancer. We honor those who fought in the past and remember those we’ve lost." For more local news, click here.
