ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A 15-year-old accused of pointing a gun at a security officer at Coronado Center will remain in custody, according to the Bernalillo County District Attorney's Office. A judge on Wednesday ruled that the teen is too dangerous to be released from the Juvenile Detention Center. Police said the incident happened at 3 a.m. on Sept. 30 when the mall security officer approached a car in the parking lot and saw two teenagers inside. ACLU suing former officers, APD over DWI corruption scheme The officer said one of them pointed a gun at her before they fled toward Interstate 40 and crashed the car, according to the DA's office. When officers arrived, the teens fled. Inside the vehicle, officers found a handgun with a switch, making it an automatic weapon, and two magazines, the DA said. The 15-year-old is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful carrying of a handgun by a person under age 19, and resisting arrest.
