BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — When November 5th rolls around and people hit the polls, local voters in Bismarck will have the opportunity to vote on a measure that would levy a half-cent sales tax. The proceeds of this tax would go towards public safety and transportation needs. Bis-Man Transit is arguing for this measure, putting an emphasis on the importance of improving public safety.  "By voting 'Yes' to Measure One on November 5th, you're investing in a safer future for our families and improving accessibility for all community members," their website says. "Join us in making a difference. Together, we can create a safer, more connected community for everyone." What you need to know about the November 5 General Election in ND If Measure One is approved, the profits will be split into two parts. Three-tenths of a cent will be allocated to public safety, and will primarily be used to ensure first responders have the resources they need to keep the community safe. It will be used for things like the construction of police and fire stations, and the acquisition of emergency vehicles. The remaining two-tenths of a cent will be used to ensure all residents have access to transportation that fits their needs. The money will be used to help provide reliable services for disabled, elderly, and low-income community members.  For more information on Measure One and Bis-Man Transit's stance on it, visit www.bismantransit.com/measure-1.
