HILTON, N.Y. (WROC) — A beloved family farm market in Hilton is back open: Zarpentine Farm! The business is at 163 Burritt Road, and is formerly known as Zarpentine Farm R&K LLC. Kim Francis, one of the new owners, and her brother Rob, tells News 8 that her father, Ron, retired in August and tapped her and her brother to take over. "We love working with each other, so it's even better," she said. Even a fifth generation is working at the market, her daughter, Grace. "I kinda do whatever (is needed)," Grace said. "I know all the roles at this point." Zarpentine Farm — though it has gone through many names through marriage — has been a family farm in Hilton for over 200 years. One of their staples is their baked goods, with local apples. Francis says that the love of baking started with her grandmother. On the menu in the market, are baked fritters, apple bites, donuts, pies, breads, and their new take on a family recipe of oliboli (a Dutch pastry that is similar to donut). As they continue to clean up and revitalize the orchard, Kim says they're sourcing their apples from other local farms, mainly Partyka in Kendall. A big goal of there's — along with new tastes — is keeping up with the familiar feelings of family and tradition. "I love the customers, the interactions, hearing all the stories when I was a kid, and I don't know who they are, but they know who I am," Grace said. "In 2026 we're hoping to bring back the pancake breakfasts, that home made maple syrup, buckwheat pancakes, homemade apple sauce… Bringing their families, and keep passing that generational thing to their kids," Kim said. Zarpentine Farm is holding a grand re-opening celebration Saturday, October 12. Local apples, cider, their baked goodies will be for sale, and Grace says they are working with local vendors.
