Dachtoberfest returns to the Richmond Raceway Complex this weekend

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The third annual Dachtoberfest is happening at the Richmond Raceway Complex this weekend, where people will be able to celebrate everything Dachshund.
Dachtoberfest -- organized by the Dachshund Enlightenment Foundation (DEF) -- is coming to the Richmond Raceway Complex in the Old Dominion Building (600 E Laburnum Ave) on Oct. 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This family-friendly event will include activities like wiener dog races, costume contests, vendors, food trucks and more.

Tickets are $10 in advance (available until Oct. 3) online at this link, or $15 at the door. Kids 10 and under are free and parking is free as well.
The races and costume contests will take place throughout the day and are open to all and any dachshunds attending the event, including:
Wiener Dog Races (four divisions, $5 per dog to race)
Senior Schnitzels – 9 years old and over
Special Sausages – special needs dachshunds
Little Links – under 2 years old
Bratwursts – between 2 and 8 years old
Costume Contests (Free and open to all dogs)
Dapper Dog – classy stylish male dog
Doggie Diva – fancy, elaborate female dog
Halloween Hound – spooky, scary, seasonal
Most Creative – original, unique
Best Pack/group – human/dog
