RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Country artist Mason Ramsey will be kicking off his "Falls Into Place" tour in Richmond on Wednesday -- and 8News got to talk with him a week before about how his music career came to be. Ramsey -- first discovered as the "Walmart yodeling kid" several years ago -- is headlining a show at The Broadberry in Richmond on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. as the first stop of his new "Falls Into Place" Tour. 8News producer Meghan Curtis got the chance to talk to Ramsey the week before the show about the inspirations for his music, what people can expect on this tour, "I tend to have a lot of high energy on stage," Ramsey said. "You'll get to hear some of the songs off the album, and honestly, I think I'm just going to make people have a good time, that's what we're there for, and just really to have fun." Ramsey described his sound as "classic country with americana and soul all blended together" especially in regard to what is on his debut album "I'll See You In My Dreams" which came out on Sept. 20. Some of the influences that Ramsey listed for his music included, Johnny Cash, Ricky Nelson, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Donny Hathaway and George Jones. People might have seen recently that Ramsey performed his song "Blue Over You" with Lana Del Rey during her sold out show at Fenway Park. Although he hasn't even turned 18 yet, Ramsey has already had some significant success, and told 8News that he hopes to achieve more over the next five years. "There's so many great things -- maybe I could be like Lana and bring artists out on stage with me to sing songs and stuff," Ramsey said. "That'd be really cool just to like, hang out and stuff [laughs] while I'm on tour." To buy tickets to Ramsey's "Fall Into Place" tour visit The Broadberry website.
