Author and presidential historian Douglas Brinkley will talk about the 2024 election at the University of Kentucky in Lexington on Oct. 8. The lecture, which begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Singletary Center for the Arts, is free to the public. After his presentation Brinkley will participate in a panel discussion led by Kentucky journalist Al Cross and including UK political science professor Stephen Voss and associate public policy professor Annelise Russell. The event marks the 10th anniversary of the Wendell H. Ford Public Policy Lecture held in honor of the late Kentucky governor and U.S. senator from Owensboro. Ford lectured at UK’s Martin School of Public Policy and Administration after retiring from the Senate in 1999. The Martin School hosts the lecture, which is co-sponsored by UK Libraries and the College of Communication and Information. Brinkley, an expert on U.S. presidents and American history, is the Katherine Tsanoff Brown Chair in Humanities and professor of history at Rice University.
