A weak frontal system moved through the area during the early hours of this Wednesday bringing a few showers and a re-enforcing shot of milder air, which set us up for a delightful mid-week across the area. After a pleasantly cool start to the day with temperatures in the mid-50s we enjoyed plenty of sunshine in Central Kentucky while our southern and southeastern counties had to deal with some stubborn, lingering cloud cover. Afternoon highs reached the low-70s where there was more sunshine while areas south and east struggled to get out of the upper 60s. Luckily the tranquil weather should carry on as we head into the late week. High pressure will continue to dominate into Thursday and with clear skies and light winds, expect a pleasantly cool start to Thursday with temperatures in the low 50s in most locations although we could sneak into the upper 40s in some of the outlying areas. The only bump in the road will be the potential for some patchy fog to start Thursday given all the moisture around of late so keep that in mind. More sunshine should be on tap for Thursday as temperatures slowly begin to moderate. Afternoon highs should climb a few degrees into the mid to upper 70s.   A weakening frontal boundary will move through the Ohio Valley as we close out the week on Friday but given the lack of available moisture, it should slide through with very little fanfare other than a shift in wind direction from south to west. Afternoon highs should continue to be a touch unseasonably warm for early October with readings topping out in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees both Friday and Saturday. Another frontal boundary will make a run for the area on Sunday and this one will have a little more potential to bring some rain with it as we close out the weekend. A southwest flow ahead of the front will push afternoon highs into the low 80s Sunday so it will feel a little more like summer. There is the potential of a few showers late in the day and into the overnight with a rumble of thunder or two not off the table. Overall rainfall totals should be on the light side. Expect a decent push of fall-like air behind the departing front into early next week ass sunshine returns and temperatures back off. You may need the light jacket during the morning hours as temperatures dip into the low to mid-40s before struggling to get out of the 60s for afternoon highs despite a good bit of sunshine expected.
