DECATUR COUNTY, Ind. — A crash in Decatur County left an Ohio man dead Wednesday morning. According to a press release, Indiana State Police responded to a portion of State Road 3 located just north of Greensburg around 6 a.m. on a report of a fatal two-vehicle crash. ISP's crash reconstructionists determined a 2017 GMC Acadia being driven by 36-year-old Adam P. Peters of Morristown, Ohio, was traveling southbound on State Road 3 before the crash. Per ISP, the Acadia Peters was driving crossed the center line on SR 3 for an unknown reason, entering the path of a person driving a Ford box truck northbound. The Acadia and the box truck were ultimately involved in a near-head-on crash. Both cars came to rest partially off the roadway. ISP reported that Peters was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The person driving the box truck sustained minor injuries. State police indicated the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Toxicology reports are pending, but officials do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Per ISP, SR 3 was closed for nearly four hours to allow first responders to clean up and investigate the crash. As of this article's publication, no additional information on the crash had been made available.
