GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - The City of Green Bay Forestry Department partnered with West Bend Insurance Company and The Arbor Day Foundation to celebrate an October Arbor Day event with tree planting at Murphy Park. In addition to Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich reading the Arbor Day Proclamation, volunteers were welcomed and learned about the importance of trees to the parks. Green Bay City Council approves ordinance to allow beer & seltzers to be sold in city parks Forestry staff and volunteers planted 36 trees in Murphy Park, which has been hit by multiple storms over the past three years, causing the loss of many trees. The planting effort will help reforest the park and create an understory of trees that will become the shade trees of tomorrow.
