DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) - In yet another bout of scam calls that have popped up throughout Wisconsin, the Door County Sheriff's Office is urging people to be careful. According to a release, the scam is targeting residents with a phone call from somebody posing as a "Sergeant Johnson" from the Door County Sheriff's Office. A similar scam under the same name was reported in mid-September by the Fond du Lac Police Department. The Door County Sheriff's Office said they will never solicit monetary donations over the phone. Anybody who receives a call like this is urged to not provide any personal information nor a donation. Those who feel they've been a victim of the scam are asked to contact the Sheriff's Office immediately. No more details were provided.
