(WFRV) - A Fox Valley man was sentenced to a decade in prison after pleading guilty to drug and illegal firearm possession charges, according to a release from Gregory J. Haanstad, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. The release said that 35-year-old Joseph Charlesworth will spend ten years in prison and follow it with seven years of supervised release. Court records show that in August of 2023, Charlesworth was investigated for distributing fentanyl, possessing firearms and dealing them without a license. Charlesworth is a previously convicted felony, including heroin distribution, which prevents him from owning a firearm under state and federal law. Additional charges are pending in the state court against Charlesworth for distributing fentanyl that led to two overdose deaths. The handgun was given to him by 28-year-old Tyler Lamers of Green Bay, who bought it from a gun dealer at the request of Charlesworth in exchange for drugs. Lamers bought the handgun by falsely claiming on a federal background check that it was for him. No more details were provided.
