NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster, and Public Safety Director Tommy Long is establishing a curfew starting on Wednesday, say officials.
The Oct. 2, curfew will begin at 10 p.m. and last until 6 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, in Newberry County.
Officials say the curfew is due to a large portion of the county still being without power after Hurricane Helene moves across the southeast last Friday, Sept. 27.
Essential workers for all local businesses as well as first responders are exempted from the curfew, it will remain in effect unless or until amended or lifted.
