CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Hornets acquired three picks and three players in a three-team trade that officially went through Wednesday that included center Karl-Anthony Towns being sent to the New York Knicks. The Hornets acquired two shooting guards, DaQuan Jeffries and Charlie Brown Jr., and point guard Duane Washington Jr. Charlotte also acquired three second-round picks in 2025, 2026, and 2031, respectively. The trade was made with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Knicks. The Hornets become the first NBA team to acquire players using the Room Exception, a new rule included in the 2023 Collective Bargaining Agreement, according to a news release.
