CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office released new details Wednesday regarding a homicide that occurred last spring. It was just after 11:00 a.m. on May 2 when Charleston County detectives responded to a location on Bee Hive Road after a passerby called 911 about a man lying on the ground. There, deputies found Alexander Nelson, 62, behind a black pickup truck with trauma to his face. Deputies said in their report that the man had blood coming from his nose and that his forehead appeared to be swollen. Personal items like a wallet, phone, and keys were found scattered nearby. First responders began life-saving measures at the scene before he was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina for immediate care. He died days later. Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said it was determined through an autopsy and investigation that Nelson died from blunt force injuries. His death was ruled a homicide. It has been five months since Nelson’s death and no arrests have been made. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information to contact them at 843-202-1700. Officials say the investigation remains active.
