Disaster recovery center to open in Assumption Parish, help Hurricane Francine victims

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — FEMA and the State of Louisiana will open a Disaster Recovery Center in Assumption Parish on Thursday, Oct. 3 to help residents who were affected by Hurricane Francine.
The center will be located at Assumption High School in the North Building. Additional centers are already open in Ascension, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, St. James, St. Mary and Terrebonne parishes.
All centers are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. No appointment is needed to visit the center, according to a news release.

"The centers are accessible to people with disabilities or access and functional needs and are equipped with assistive technology," the news release said.
Residents who can't make it to the center can apply for FEMA disaster assistance by downloading the FEMA app or calling the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Lafourche Parish
Lafourche Parish Emergency Operations Center, 4876 Highway 1 in Raceland.
St. Charles Parish
Alan Arterbury Building, 14564 River Road in New Sarpy.
St. John the Baptist Parish
Reserve Library, 1482 Highway 44 in Reserve.
St. James Parish
Convent Community Center, 5775 Highway 44 in Convent.
St. Mary Parish
Morgan City Municipal Auditorium, 728 Myrtle St. in Morgan City.
Terrebonne Parish
Terrebonne Parish Library, 151 Library Drive in Houma.
