AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department provided more details into what led to a man's death in downtown Austin over the weekend, the agency said in a news release Wednesday. The man, who was not identified by police, was seen "screaming, punching trees, and foaming at the mouth." Around 2:16 p.m., 911 received a call saying the man was "screaming and yelling" before crawling onto the bank and rolling into the water at Lady Bird Lake, according to police. APD investigating body found near Cesar Chavez Street A witness told police the man entered the water between the hike and bike trail and West Cesar Chavez Street. The man was seen screaming and punching while swimming before he went underwater, according to police. In addition to APD, the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the area and were able to find the man and pull him out of the water, the release said. AFD and medics attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at 3:11 p.m., according to police. This death investigation is not being investigated as a homicide, according to police. No other details were available Wednesday.
