RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) has announced an opportunity to expand with a new pet adoption center on Cary Street -- but support is needed from the public as well as City Council to bring the project to fruition. According to a post from RACC, there is an opportunity for the City of Richmond to buy a building that will serve as a new pet adoption center. The new center -- located at 2310 West Cary Street -- would supplement the existing RACC facility and create more space to house pets in need. The expansion would aim to increase public engagement, grow community outreach efforts and save the lives of more animals, according to the agency. RACC said it needs public help to make the project happen and secured votes with City Council to buy the space. Council President Kristen M. Nye and Council Member Reva Trammell are both co-patrons on the papers.
