INDIANAPOLIS – A Marion County judge revoked the bond for embattled Center Township Constable Denise Hatch, sending her back to jail. The state’s motion to revoke bond noted Hatch has four pending felony cases, including a Sept. 24 incident that led to an official misconduct charge. At the time of that incident, Hatch was reportedly on “strict compliance” pre-trial home detention with GPS. The incident involved a verbal altercation between Hatch and the Center Township trustee. A police report was filed in the case. A probable cause affidavit indicated that Hatch interrupted a meeting to which she hadn't been invited. "Despite being asked multiple times to stop her disorderly behavior, Constable Hatch refused and continued her tirade in front of an audience," according to court documents. The disturbance didn't stop until a special deputy working security intervened. The incident happened at the Julia Carson Government Center during the monthly meeting of the Center Township Democrat Club. Hatch was in her constable uniform at the time and was wearing her GPS ankle monitor. The trustee told police she asked Hatch to leave the meeting three times, and eventually used an expletive to get Hatch to leave. Once the special deputy intervened, Hatch left, using repeated profanity and calling the trustee "b****" approximately 15 times in the hall outside the meeting room. The trustee told an investigator she feared Hatch would start arresting meeting attendees at some point, adding that the constable "creates a disturbance" every time she's around. Additional charges, official misconduct (a felony) and disorderly conduct (a misdemeanor), were filed on Tuesday stemming from the case. Hatch is now back in jail. Hatch’s recent legal troubles are numerous. They include arrests on official misconduct and gun charges in February and a May arrest for carrying a gun in violation of a judge’s order. In May, the court ordered her held without bond at request of the state. In August, after she asked for bond review multiple times, the court ordered her released on “strict compliance” pre-trial home detention with GPS. She was prohibited from having firearms and ordered to stay out of trouble. The Sept. 24 incident resulted in additional charges, including a felony count, leading the state to ask the court to revoke her bond. The court granted the motion this week, sending Hatch back to jail. She’s due back in court on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Last year, Hatch was caught on camera cursing at IMPD officers who were arresting one of her deputies. Some of her deputies also face legal trouble.
