CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) -- Catawba County native Caleb Farley has signed with the Carolina Panthers, CSL confirmed with league sources Tuesday.  The 25-year-old cornerback was a free agent at the beginning of this season after playing his first three seasons with the Titans. At 6-foot-2, he is expected to be placed on the practice squad but eventually join the official roster.  Farley faced tragedy last year when his home near Lake Norman exploded from a gas leak, killing his father, Robert.  Man with Scolisis lives out NASCAR dream with sim-racing The Panthers announced earlier Tuesday they waived cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields, creating an open roster spot. Other secondary members Dane Jackson and Jordan Fuller are on injured reserve.  The team also signed linebacker Chandler Wooten to the active roster from the practice squad. Farley was a first-round pick in 2021 out of Virginia Tech and drafted 22nd overall. In 2019, Farley led the ACC in passes defended with 16 and was tied for second in the league with four interceptions. He did not play in the pandemic-impacted 2020 season.  In high school, Farley was a dual-threat quarterback at Maiden High, where he was named Southern District 7 Player of the Year and second-team All-State. He set a school record for single-season yards rushing with 2,574.
