GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Northeast Wisconsinites from both sides of the political aisle are reacting to the Vice Presidential debate on Tuesday night. Local Five News crews attended two debate watch parties on Tuesday night, one held by Republicans and the other hosted by Democrats. One of the debate night watch parties was at Pub 55 in Kaukauna. Wisconsin 8th Congressional candidate Tony Wied was among the crowd that came out to the watch party. "(The debate is a) great opportunity for JD Vance to show what he's about," said Wied. "Strong conservative that came from humble beginnings." Those at the Republican watch party at Pub 55 said they thought that Vance had a strong showing on Tuesday night during the debate. "I think this debate is better in terms of questions that are given and responses that were given (compared to the last one between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump)."  "I think JD Vance is very articulate and knows what he's talking about while Tim Walz is very confused and stumbling on his words," said Jennifer Young from Appleton. "(Vance) is a really down-to-earth person who understands government, economy, and that he knows how to handle the world issues."  Over at the Democratic Party of Outagamie County headquarters in Appleton, local Democrats also gathered together to take in the debate. Chairperson of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin Ben Wikler and Attorney General Josh Kaul both were in attendance. Democratic voters said they felt like Tim Walz had a strong performance at the debate on Tuesday night. "Walz is doing amazing of course, he comes with this real energy, he talks to the audience so well," said Megan who is a Lawrence University student. "He's a governor and he knows what bi-partisan leadership looks like. We're focusing on the future, we're focusing on how we can make things better, and with that comes joy because you're thinking about progress."  Local 5 News asked voters from both parties if they think that the Vice Presidential debate results will have an impact on voters come election day in November. "I would be surprised if this debate takes center stage in this election, but I think the issues that they discuss will be central," said Wikler. "I think it does matter, I think people want to see confidence and people who can articulate their positions and what they're going to bring to the table," said Tony Wied. Mets continue wild ride with 8-4 win over Brewers in playoff opener Local 5 News asked Wied for his thoughts on Iran's attack on Israel on Tuesday. He said it was a terrible attack and that Israel has a right to defend itself. He also said the attack was a sign of weak leadership on the part of the Biden/Harris administration.
