The closure will be from Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Oct. 11, to clear the debris after hurricane Helene from the canal head gates, remove trees, and repair the canal levee. City officials say there will be large trucks and heavy equipment on the trial during the operations. Access to the park will remain available on Thursday, October 3, through Sunday, October 6. Park entrances on Riverfront North at 4122 River Drive and Riverfront South at 312 Laurel Street will be affected by the closure, says city officials. Restrooms and the fitness center at the south end of the park (312 Laurel Street) will be accessible, but the pedestrian bridge over the canal will be gated and locked.
