MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - The Gunnison officer accused of sexual abuse died Friday in Mesa County, the City of Gunnison said Monday. No other information was given about Daniel Huff's death. He was originally arrested on Wednesday. PREVIOUS REPORTING: Gunnison Police officer charged with incest “Our current focus is with the victim and Huff’s entire family,” Gunnison Capt. Chris Wilson said in a statement. “This situation has been extremely difficult on them, our community and our entire department.” Huff, 44, was placed on administrative leave after a three-week investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. The Seventh Judicial District Attorney’s Office launched an investigation into Huff after he was reportedly involved in abuse. Hugg was hired by the Gunnison Police Department in September 2021. He previously had over 10 years of law enforcement experience.
