BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- One man is dead after an alleged home invasion led to an officer involved shooting in southwest Bakersfield early Wednesday morning, according to Bakersfield police. Police were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Blomquist Drive near Belle Terrace. BPD and sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 caller who said they heard unknown voices coming from inside the home, just after midnight. After multiple attempts were made to get the suspect out, BPD said the man became assaultive toward officers and an officer-involved shooting happened. Officers and deputies, along with a KCSO K-9, went inside the home and took the man into custody. The unidentified suspect was taken to Kern Medical where he later died. His identity will be released by the coroner's office at a later date.
