AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin police identified a 16-year-old boy as the victim of a Monday night homicide in north Austin and said they arrested another 16-year-old boy in connection to the incident. RELATED | APD: One person dead in north Austin homicide Police said they responded to multiple 911 calls in the 9100 block of Northgate Boulevard Monday around 8:20 p.m. Callers said they heard shots in the area, and a few callers also said someone was shot, according to police. The Austin Police Department on Wednesday said Ahsun Madison, 16, died in the shooting Monday night. According to APD, when officers arrived at the scene, they found a victim with “obvious signs of trauma." APD officers, EMS and the Austin Fire Department attempted life-saving measures, but he was ultimately pronounced dead on the scene at 9:01 p.m., according to police. APD said in a press release Wednesday that officers identified the suspect as a 16-year-old Hispanic male. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to police. His identity is not being released to the public at this time since he is a juvenile. The suspect had previously been arrested for his involvement in prior shootings and was out on bond, according to APD. APD said the suspect shot and killed Madison at an apartment complex and then fled the scene. Austin Police Gang Detectives found him and arrested him. He was booked into Gardner Betts Juvenile Center for first-degree murder, according to APD. Police said the suspect had been involved in multiple shootings in the area earlier this year, including the fourth homicide of 2024, which happened on Jan. 8 in the 9300 block of Northgate Boulevard. APD added the 16-year-old was not the shooter in the Jan. 8 homicide, but that he was present during the incident.
