Editor's Note: This live Q&A has been edited for brevity and clarity. AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin's iconic Trail of Lights is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary when it returns to Zilker Park in December. The event will run Dec. 10-23. The event will cover Zilker Park in more than 2 million lights and have various displays for attendees to enjoy. There will also be 30 food trucks and two entertainment stages. KXAN anchor Will Dupree spoke to Trail of Lights Foundation Board Director Enrique Duran II about the upcoming winter event. Will Dupree: Remind us about what we can expect at this year's Trail of Lights. Enrique Duran II: Well, it's the 60th presentation of Trail of Lights, powered by H-E-B. And what you can expect is, in the Yule area, where the trail started in 1965, we're going to have a special presentation of the evolution of the trail, from the origination to what it is now, and all the people that made the trail possible throughout the years. So we're really excited for live music, and there's a special surprise. We can't say just yet, it's in Santa's bag until November, but stay tuned. Will Dupree: Okay, well, that's what we call a tease, for sure. But you know, as we look at these beautiful displays, a lot of people have been out there, but this event does some good for the community as well ... Talk to us about that. How does this help? Enrique Duran II: So we have Stars Night, and what that does is bring in people that can't normally get to the trail for three days. We give them the VIP treatment [such as] cookies [and] hot chocolate. Just to make them feel as special as they really are. Will Dupree: We are just at Oct. 1 right now, but you all are really pushing that people can go out there and get some tickets. How can they do that? Enrique Duran II: Yes, today is ticket launch day, so go to austintrailoflights.org. Gives you all the information on parking ticket pricing, VIP pricing, and you should go get it now, because we do sell out. And we expect, since this is the 60th annual presentation powered by H-E-B, that we're going to be sold out even quicker. Will Dupree: We appreciate you, Enrique, joining us for a little bit of holiday cheer, and of course, we want to plan a little bit further ahead too, so we appreciate that as well.
