72-Year-Old Glendale Man Dies in Three-Vehicle Crash near North Citrus Street WEST COVINA, CA (October 2, 2024) – Jose Lopez Centeno died early Saturday morning, and his female passenger was hurt in a multi-vehicle crash on eastbound 10 Freeway. Police officers responded to the scene around 4:00 a.m., just west of North Citrus Street. Investigators reported that the driver of a 2011 Toyota Camry rear-ended a 2012 Honda Civic in the fast lane. The collision caused the Civic to be pushed into the far right lane, where it struck a 2023 Kenworth big-rig. Shortly afterward, a 19-year-old woman from Montclair collided with the disabled Civic in the fast lane. Responding paramedics pronounced the Civic driver dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner identified the deceased as 64-year-old Centeno, from Carson. A female passenger in the Mazda was transported to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries. Additionally, the 20-year-old Camry driver from Pomona and the 64-year-old big-rig driver from Carson were unharmed. West Covina officials are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash.
