Baja’s owner passes away after battling terminal illness

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The owner of the Rhode Island-based restaurant chain, Baja’s, passed away this weekend.
The business announced his passing on social media on Monday.
David Boutros died on Saturday, Sept. 28 at home in South Kingstown after fighting a long battle with a terminal illness, according to his obituary.
“Even with challenges along the way, David’s passion and determination never faltered. His focus on great food and customer service earned him a loyal following at each Baja location,” said the business in the posting.
Boutros successfully opened 16 restaurants throughout New England; including in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
“David’s story shows the power of passion and perseverance. His legacy will continue to inspire those who dare to dream big and work hard,” the posting continues.
The restaurant said David’s family and team are determined to continue his dream of reaching 20 Baja’s locations.
