NORFOLK, Va. (Nexstar) -- The two candidates vying for Virginia's open U.S. Senate seat are facing off in an live, televised debate on Wednesday night. Democratic incumbent Tim Kaine is set to debate Republican challenger Hung Cao live at 7 p.m. from the campus of Norfolk State University. More coverage: NSU students, political analyst preview Va. Senate debate The exclusive debate from Nexstar Media Group will be streamed here online, televised on Virginia's Nexstar stations, and simulcast nationwide via Nexstar’s cable news network, NewsNation. This is the only debate scheduled between the candidates from now until Election Day. Virginia Senate Debate: How to watch the Kaine-Cao debate Cao, a U.S. Navy special operations veteran, will look to gain some ground in the race with a strong debate performance. A recent poll from Emerson College had him down 10 points to Kaine, who's running for a third term. Kaine's been a senator since 2013, after previously serving as Virginia's governor from 2006 to 2010. Early voting in Virginia meanwhile has already begun, and goes through Nov. 2.
