Check out what's going on around the nation on our National News page Workers from the American Postal Workers Union rallied at the Downtown Honolulu Post Office on Tuesday to address noticeably slower mail service for millions of customers nationwide. How to track your 2024 General Election ballot "Without the postal service, much of the community will be cut off including rural areas, people with mobility issues, veterans and we all know kupuna rely heavily on the mail for medication," said Marissa DePonte, APWU Honolulu Local 162 President. Reports said the APWU is demanding greater transparency in the "Delivering for America" plan when it comes to the poor implementation of modernizing mail facilities. "The public sees the long lines at postal counters, where we handle more packages today than ever before, but while the number of packages handled has dramatically increased, the number of clerks has declined over the past two decades by over 10,000." Officials said the USPS is taking "extraordinary measures" as the 2024 General Election nears.
