2 from North Carolina, 6yearold child among 5 killed in Outer Banks plane crash

MANTEO, N.C. (WNCN) — National Park Service officials Tuesday released the names of the victims killed in a single airplane crash Saturday. Two of the victims were residents of central North Carolina.
Late Saturday afternoon, a single-engine Cirrus SR-22 airplane crashed in woods near the First Fight Airport beside the Wright Brothers National Memoria.

The five people on board who were killed in the crash were identified as:
Shashwat Ajit Adhikari, 31 of Silver Spring, Maryland
Jason Ray Campbell, 43 of Southern Pines, North Carolina
Kate McAllister Neely, 39 of Southern Pines, North Carolina
Matthew Arthur Fassnacht, 44 or Marietta, Georgia
An unidentified 6-year-old
The single-engine plane hit trees just before 5:20 p.m. Saturday and then crashed into woods and burst into flames.

Witnesses told the National Park Service that the plane was on its second approach to the runway when the crash happened.
WAVY confirmed with an NTSB spokesperson that the tail number of the plane is N1281F. According to the FAA’s website, the plane is registered to “Pantheon Aviation LLC” in Franklin, in the North Carolina mountains.
