WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Volunteers with the Red Cross from Kansas are in the southeast part of the country to help with relief from the damage caused by hurricane Helene, but the organization said they need a lot more. Right now, about 1,400 volunteers are in the region keeping shelters open, and they typically work a two-week shift. The Red Cross is holding classes through the weekend to train more people, saying the relief effort will continue for a long time. Boil water advisory issued in three Kansas counties "Then another wave of people will keep going down there until the disaster's taken care of," Patrick Loney, a volunteer with the American Red Cross in south-central and southeast Kansas, said.
