CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A pedestrian is dead after they were hit by a car on Route 1 in Chesterfield County on Tuesday. At about 7:11 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, an unidentified pedestrian was hit in the 7800 block of Route 1 on the northbound side, according to the Chesterfield County Police Department. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the pedestrian injured in the roadway. They were taken to a local hospital, where they later died. Their identity is being held as police get in touch with their family. According to police, the driver who hit the pedestrian remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
