ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Change is coming to a high school along Joseph Avenue in Rochester.
A groundbreaking was held Tuesday as part of the Eugenio María de Hostos Charter School, which serves around 1,000 students in the Rochester community.
School leaders say EMHCS has been around for over two decades, making it the longest running charter school in Monroe County. Enrollment doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon, with around 400 students expected to walk the halls of the new building.
The campus will not only be equipped with new classroom spaces but also a fresh gymnasium — a new home for section five athletics. The project is set for completion in the fall of 2026.
