GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Starting Tuesday the City of Greenfield will offer free parking at the Olive Street parking garage during certain times of the day. The top 10 taco spots in western Massachusetts Parking will be free from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, encouraging residents and visitors to dine at over 25 restaurants in downtown Greenfield. Photo courtesy of the City of Greenfield Mayor Virginia “Ginny” Desorgher and the Greenfield Community and Economic Development Department launched this initiative to bolster the city’s vibrant business community as the fall tourism season approaches. The free lunch parking plan received support from the city’s Parking and Traffic Commission, which voted in favor of the initiative on August 27. “Our downtown is a beautiful space that features a wealth of tremendous businesses,” said Mayor Desorgher. “Making our largest parking resource more accessible is a great way to support businesses as we approach the busy fall season.” Here is a breakdown of parking changes at the Olive Street Parking Garage: Free Parking: Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Weekends Parking on the fourth floor (weather permitting, typically open from April to November) First-hour parking during paid periods Hourly Paid Parking ($0.40/hour): Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. This change only applies to the Olive Street Parking Garage and does not affect the pricing at other municipal lots, including the City Hall Parking Lot, Legion Parking Lot, Chapman/Davis Parking Lot, Ames Street Parking Lot, and Miles Street Parking Lot.
