Park City Performing Arts, in collaboration with Excellence in the Community, will continue their series of free concerts at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts dedicated to enhancing Utah’s quality of life through the power of music. World-renowned violinist David Park will be the next concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5.Park, who will be joined by pianist Melissa Garff Ballard and flutist Patty Chou, started playing the violin at the age of 5 in Seoul, Korea.He studied with Josef Gingold and Dorothy Delay, and at the age of 14, was one of the youngest students of the legendary Jascha Heifetz.Park received his Bachelors of Music degree at the University of Indiana, where he also studied with Yuval Yaron, and he earned a Masters of Music degree at the Juilliard School.In 2016, Park received an award for Higher Education of the Year by Utah American String Teachers Association, where Finer Points proclaimed him as “one of the best violin soloists and music pedagogues in the nation.”Furthermore, he received the coveted Global Music Award for his debut solo CD, “Violin Meditations,” and in 2020, his “David Park Plays Fritz Kreisler” album with Centaur Records sold-out in the first week of the release.Donald Vroon, editor of American Record Guide remarked “this is the most brilliant Kreisler recording I know.” In 2021, Park performed concertos of Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, Beethoven and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in St. George, Los Angeles and New York, and also made his London debut.For that concert he will be playing a Stradivarius from Beare’s International Violin Society.Park is the appointed to be the Cultural Ambassador of Ferrari, and his passion for fine wine culminated in his induction as Commander of Honor in Bordeaux, France, for one of the world’s oldest wine societies, Commanderie du Bontemps.The violinist recorded Massenet’s “Meditation Thais” and Bach’s “Air on a G String” for Kenny Riches’ comedy, “The Strongest Man,” which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.The mission of the Park City Institute and Excellence in the Community partnership is to bring world-class entertainment to Park City and beyond, fostering a sense of community and cultural enrichment.This concert series celebrates Utah’s rich musical talent, providing high-quality performances accessible to everyone, regardless of age, economic background or walk of life.David Park, Melissa Garff Ballard and Patty ChouWhen: 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5 Where: Eccles Center for the Performing Arts, 1750 Kearns Blvd. Cost: Free Web: parkcityinstitute.org/main-stageThe post Renowned violinist showcases Excellence in the Community appeared first on Park Record.
