EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Democratic U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and Republican challenger Patricia Morgan have agreed to a debate hosted by 12 News, the station announced Tuesday.
The Oct. 18 face-off is currently the only scheduled debate between the two Senate candidates. Whitehouse was first elected in 2006 and is seeking a fourth six-year term, while Morgan is a state representative and former candidate for governor.
The Senate debate is one of three that 12 News will hold in our studios between now and Election Day, along with debates between the mayoral candidates in Woonsocket and Cranston.
All three debates will be moderated by Target 12 Chief Investigative Reporter Tim White and 12 News Politics Editor Ted Nesi. They will air as special commercial-free editions of Newsmakers and be available to stream on WPRI.com.
