A 42 year old woman from Pierre facing charges after a domestic disturbance early Friday morning in Pierre (Sept. 29, 2024, at approximately 5:15am). Information from the Police Department says Patrol Officers responded to the 500 block of W. 5th Street in Pierre because two females were arguing. The investigation found that Sonya Johnson and another female were arguing when Johnson pushed the other female to the ground, causing minor injuries. The arguing continued and Johnson pulled a knife out of her pocket and swung at the other female causing cuts to that woman’s arm and stomach. A male tried to intervene, but Johnson began punching him with her fists. AMR was called to the scene to assess the injuries, but none required further medical treatment. Johnson was arrested and taken to the Hughes County Jail. She’s charged with aggravated assault domestic violence and simple assault domestic violence.
