GASTON, Ind. — A 19-year-old woman is accused of causing a deadly crash all because she was in too much of a rush to stop and wait for oncoming traffic to pass before crossing a road. Adrianna M. Croy of Gaston is charged with causing death while operating a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, a Level 4 felony; causing catastrophic injury while operating a vehicle under the influence, a Level 4 felony; and reckless homicide, a Level 5 felony. Man arrested for practicing dentistry without license in trailer park Blood tests confirmed that Croy had THC in her system at the time of the collision which claimed one woman's life and left another person suffering from a broken neck. Adriana Croy (Madison Co. Jail) According to court documents, the crash occurred on May 11 at the intersection of 500 East and State Road 28. This is a stretch of road east of Alexandria and just west of where State Road 28 crosses Interstate 69. Investigators determined that Croy was traveling southbound on 500 East in a 2004 Cadillac Escalade. The victims were traveling east on State Road 28. Croy was required to stop at the intersection, police said, while motorists on State Road 28 do not have a stop sign. According to witness testimony and vehicle data, Croy slowed while approaching State Road 28 but did not stop. Instead, she attempted to dart across State Road 28. Croy even told officers, "I was trying to beat the other vehicle," according to the police report. No patience: Avon drivers remove barricade, drive through fresh pavement She didn't beat the other vehicle, however, and instead slammed into the side of a GMC Arcadia at roughly 35 miles per hour. Two passengers inside the Arcadia ended up being transported to a hospital due to the collision. One died from her injuries while the other passenger suffered a broken neck. Investigators ended up speaking to witnesses, collecting data from the vehicles and sending Croy's blood into a lab for analysis. The analysis ended up revealing that Croy had THC in her system at the time of the crash. Police also learned that Croy's Cadillac had a fake registration. She was also driving without insurance. Croy ended up being arrested on June 19 and charged with three felonies on Aug. 20. If convicted, she could face up to 12 years in prison.
