MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie drug dealer is under arrest in the wake of an investigation into a man's overdose death. Nathan Johnson, 26, of Muncie was arrested on Sept. 27 on preliminary charges of dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death, a Level 1 felony. 19-year-old woman ‘tried to beat other vehicle’ and caused deadly crash, police say Nathan Johnson (Delaware Co. Jail) According to court documents, Muncie police officers were called to a home on South May Avenue on June 10 after a man was found dead outside on a couch. Police said a needle was found near the feet of the deceased and a later autopsy determined the man died from acute fentanyl intoxication. Investigators ended up finding messages on the deceased's phone which linked them to an individual whom the deceased had contacted about purchasing drugs. That individual pointed police toward Johnson, naming him as the supplier. Undercover officers ended up purchasing drugs from Johnson and tests determined the substance supplied by Johnson to be fentanyl, police detailed. Johnson was taken into custody in June for the drug sale and allegedly admitted to driving to Trotwood, Ohio, a "couple times a month" to acquire a half pound of heroin cut with other substances. Johnson was charged with several drug dealing felonies on June 17 relating to this controlled buy bust including two Level 2 felonies. But, now, Johnson could face a more serious charge as police investigators push for Johnson to be charged for supplying the drugs which caused a man's death. Ultimately, the Delaware County Prosecutor will decide whether or not to file a dealing resulting in death charge against Johnson. If he is charged, Johnson could face up to 50 years in prison on a Level 1 felony.
