WHEATFIELD, Ind. — Crime scene tape surrounded a home in northwest Indiana on Tuesday as authorities investigated a report that a person had killed two of their children and disposed of their bodies in the backyard of their former home. The property, which is in the 4200 block of Old Orchard Lane in Wheatfield, located in Jasper County, Ind., about an hour-and-a-half southeast of Chicago, was the subject of an extensive investigation this week after a report clued authorities into possible human remains on the property, according to a joint statement by Jasper County Sheriff Patrick Williamson and the Jasper County Coroner Andy Boersma. Authorities said the investigation began on Sept. 20, after deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office received a report that someone had allegedly told their acquaintances about killing two of their undocumented children before burning their bodies in a backyard fire pit at their Wheatfield home.
