FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — It's a constant fight against decaying concrete for the City of Fort Wayne, and their weapon is money. "What we hear almost always is infrastructure," said Garry Morr, Fort Wayne City Controller, while talking about building the 2025 city budget. "Streets, roads, alleys, parks, sidewalks." City Council approves road repair projects throughout the year, but they actually budget for each individual project and name them at the very beginning of the year. The city always plans one year ahead for asphalt resurfacing. "That is very specific what we're proposing for next year," Morr said while looking at the list of street projects. "In this budget, there is $47.7 million for infrastructure [and] for neighborhoods in particular." City officials plan road repairs so far in advance because road conditions are constantly changing. "That happens with streets, you may have a sinkhole that you're not aware of coming up," Morr said. "One year is about the farthest that we're willing." You can see a full list of road repairs and updates totaling nearly $50 million below. 2025_Budget_Book_PublicationDownload
