(PIKES PEAK REGION, Colo.) — Homeowners who enjoy DIY home improvement projects but feel overwhelmed by the permitting process can now attend a new class offered by the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department (PPRBD) to guide them. The first Homeowner Permitting class will take place on Wednesday, October 23, at the PPRBD Main Office located at 2880 International Circle, near South Union Boulevard and Airport Road, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This free class will cover everything from when a homeowner can get a permit and what they'll need, to what projects require permits, how to submit plans, and how to request inspections. “We have a lot of homeowners wanting to perform their own work, but they may not fully understand the permitting process, which can lead to frustration and delays," said Matt Matzen, Permit Supervisor. "This class will help homeowners by educating them to all the requirements needed to successfully complete their project.” Though the class is free, spaces are limited, so those interested should sign up at the educational portal on the PPRBD website linked above.
