BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy spent his Tuesday morning teaching students at Prairieville High School.
Cassidy taught a group of 20 students in Ms. Jill Sandridge's U.S. history class how Congress and the president work together to create laws and govern the country, according to the news release.
The students went through an exercise where they roleplayed as senators and representatives. One student in the class took on the role of president of the U.S. According to the news release, the exercise was outlined to show the obstacles that members of Congress face when they try to pass a bill.
"Had fun with Prairieville High students passing a law to decide what to have for lunch and who pays for it," said Cassidy. "One of these students may be our senator one day, and it's partly thanks to the amazing commitment Ascension makes to help them meet their potential."
