ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The City of Rochester announced its plans for the sixth annual Roc Holiday Village Tuesday. The event will kick off with the city's lighting of the Liberty Pole, followed by a family parade featuring Santa Claus and others marching from the Liberty Pole to the Roc Holiday Village at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park. For the first time since 2019, the event will remain open after Christmas. Organizers said it was a success last time, giving people more time to spend with visiting family members in the days after the holiday. During that time, Santa's workshop will be transformed into a "rec room" with free games. Special ticketed events this year will include story time readings with Santa and with Frozen's Anna and Elsa. There will also be movie screenings (featuring A Christmas Story and Elf), trivia nights, and paint & sip events. Rohrbach Brewing Company's Village Lager will return, after selling out in two weeks during the 2023 Roc Holiday Village. Organizers say it will available in limited quantities at select retailers after the holiday village closes. The bar will also feature liquor in the form of canned cocktails. Roc Holiday Village runs from December 6 to December 29 on the following dates: Week 1: Friday, December 6 through Sunday, December 8 Week 2: Wednesday, December 11 through Sunday, December 15 Week 3: Wednesday, December 18 through Sunday, December 22 Week 4: Wednesday, December 26 through Saturday, December 29 For the first time ever, Monroe County will serve as a sponsor of the event this year. County Executive Adam Bello called it "a no-brainer" Tuesday. "We love our festivals, right," Bello said. "We're a festival town. We take advantage of every opportunity we can around the year to celebrate everything our community has to offer." "Roc Holiday Village is one of those things that you can not really describe.
