EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A portion of eastbound Interstate 8 in East County will close Thursday night so crews can put up a sign structure, Caltrans said Tuesday. Starting west of Jackson Drive and ending just east of State Route 125, contractor crews will close all lanes of eastbound I-8 to install a sign structure. The closure will be in place Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 a.m. Friday. New Convoy District gateway sign lit for the first time All drivers headed east on I-8 will be detoured to northbound SR-125 then eastbound on State Route 52 to southbound State Route 67, and then finally to eastbound I-8. Caltrans said signs will be put in place to alert drivers about the closure. The work schedule is subject to change due to weather, traffic incidents and other factors.
