WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – The stage is set in New York for the vice presidential debate between Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and Republican Sen. JD Vance. "Tim Walz’s record is a joke. He's been one of the most far-left radicals in the entire United States government at any level,” Vance said. "It's pretty obvious to us that Donald Trump and JD Vance do not share our values in any way,” Walz said.  The candidates are expected to face questions about the economy, immigration, and abortion access. Moderators said they won’t interrupt the debate to fact-check, leaving it largely up to the nominees. Unlike the presidential debates, both campaigns have agreed that microphones will remain on throughout the event. Former President Donald Trump said he will be tuning in to watch Vance. "I think JD is going to do great. He’s a very smart guy, has done a great job. People like him a lot," Trump said. Vice President Kamala Harris said she will also be watching and cheering on Walz. "We will cheer on Coach Walz when he debates JD Vance," Harris said. This will likely be the last debate before November’s election.
